Doctor Who – Series 5, Episode 12 (Finale) “The Pandorica Opens” ‘Next Time’ BBC Wales Trailers/Sneak Peeks/Promo Photos

BBC — June 12, 2010 —

The Doctor’s friends unite to send him a terrible warning; the Pandorica – which is said to contain the most feared being in all the cosmos – is opening, as the time travelling drama continues. But what’s inside, and can the Doctor stop it?

‘The Pandorica Opens’ is written by Steven Moffat and stars Matt Smith as the Doctor and Karen Gillan as Amy Pond.

EDIT/ Just watched Episode 11, “The Lodger” and am reading some rather unhappy reviews about it. It wasn’t by far the worst Doctor Who ever, but it certainly was not stellar. My spouses’ complaint/inquiry was why did the Doctor not use the key to the Tardis to bring it back as he has done previously? As far as I recall, he didn’t even try to use the key–and that was before the time instability issues were discovered, which I’m assuming is why he couldn’t. Seemed like a bit of a thrown-together episode without an eye on the smaller details. Still looking forward to the grand finale, though!

The series final (remember, “series” is what the UK calls “seasons” so this is not the end of the show!) of Doctor Who looks and sounds like it’s going to be amazingly epic. We’ve got the preview trailer and 8 images below for you. This stuff is all pretty spoilerific so don’t proceed any further if you hate that kind of thing. We love that kind of thing and think this promo is pretty damn good, as are all the images.

First, here’s more info on the episode from the Daily Mail:

“Every major enemy of the Time Lord will make an appearance in the finale of this series of Doctor Who.In a terrifying two part programme – entitled The Pandorica Opens – the Doctor will be confronted by many of his old foes.

The Daleks, Cybermen, Silurians, Judoon, Sontarans, Sycorax, Weevils and Autons, will all feature in the final show.”

The first half of the two-part finale will run June 19 in the UK and July 3 here in the US.

Doctor Who: Series 5.09 “Cold Blood” RIP Rory – Tribute Videos *SPOILERS*

It is common knowledge that the long-running BBC series, Doctor Who, is on Series 5 (31 in total) with a new Doctor played by Matt Smith, a new companion, “Amy Pond” (Karen Gillan), and assorted new recurring characters like Rory (Arthur Darvill), Amy’s boyfriend and River Song (Alex Kingston) who is the Doctor’s future wife.
Since the UK is 3 weeks ahead of the United States in viewing series 5, they of course are aware of events we have yet to see. Having myself just viewed Doctor Who: Series 5.09 “Cold Blood,”  (cont. scroll below videos)

doctorwhotvuk — June 19, 2010 — Major spoilers if you haven’t seen The Pandorica Opens!

theskarorevenger — May 29, 2010 — the nurse boy?
who is he?
but he saved the world from and evil crack which keeps geting bigger and bigger…

“Losing Rory”

AnonymousCatt — May 31, 2010 — Just a reworking of Rory’s ‘death’… I refuse to believe he isn’t coming back, by the way. This is basically just an excuse to put this scene to an instrumental I like… enjoy!

(cont.) I understand why folks are getting concerned about Rory, especially now that he seems to be doing something more than being an appendage for Amy. Once again though I’m going to take a page from UK Doctor Who viewers who have more perspective (translation: are episodes ahead of the US) and quote:

(2 weeks ago) Yep, check IMDb, he’s (Rory– Arthur Darvill) listed in “Big Bang” as the season or should i say,? SERIES FINALE, as everyone knows doctor who isn’t seasons, it’s series’.
and The Crack in the skin of the universe, is the Pandorica, when it cracks everything will be released, including Rory, he’s not dead, just suspended in time.
It is a bit more of a thinking person’s explanation versus mine which was the standard “Science Fiction exception” excuse–”It’s science fiction –anything can happen.”

Doctor Who – Series 5, Episode 9 “Cold Blood” Four Sneak Peeks! Promo Photos

DrWhoTimeVortex — Original UK airing  — Saturday 29th May, 7.00pm on BBC One/ June 19 2010 on BBC America.… It is the most important day in the history…

Cold Blood
It is the most important day in the history of Earth: the dawn of a new age of harmony… or the start of its final war.

The Doctor must face his most difficult challenge yet and he tries desperately to ensure Alaya’s prediction of a massacre does not come true. Meanwhile, what fate will befall the captured Amy and can Tony and his friends be trusted?

The Doctor battles to prevent an all out war between the Silurians and the humans. But as a potential apocalypse looms, the Doctor discovers an even more horrifying danger waits for him…”

It’s been sort of confusing trying to keep current with the BBC America broadcast of Doctor Who with it being aired two (or is it three?) weeks previously in the U.K….then there was the switching up of titles on The Lodger (episode 11), which is not due to air here in the U.S. for 2.5 more weeks.

The upside of course, is that all the great previews and promo photos have been released well in advance of the airing of the current BBC America Doctor Who Episode.

Also, with a brand new Doctor (Matt Smith) Series 5 has been quite fun to read about the reactions to him as the episodes have played out. With “Doctor Who,” spoilers–which are sort of my “thing”– are not all that important as the promotional stuff gives away almost nothing. For example, see “Rory” holding a food tray below. One can pretty well guess that all that “ape” food won’t go down too well (lol) with that Silurian hostage so there will be a chance for her to insult apes (humans) and their diet and for him to be confused and/or insulted or angry, after all the Silurians have taken his fiance, Amy Pond hostage. Still, all great fun.
