LOST – “The End” 6.17 & 6.18 – 36 HQ Promo Photos – Kate’s Shooting Sequence – Series 6 Finale Official Video Podcast

Yay! I can finally talk about the “The End” of LOST!

Photos from ABC, released after LOST  “The Candidate” (6×14) aired.

You can see the tubing or whatever she’s got under her top to simulate being hit by a bullet. Not scary at all.

My significant finally watched The LOST Season 6 finale, “The End,” so I can finally talk to him about it! And write about it.
It only took him a month! We didn’t have time tonight to talk LOST’s ending other than when we were walking the dogs but I advised him to not think too hard about the very ending.

I’ve had a month to chew it over and speaking only for me–a viewer of the show from day one Season 1, ( la-de-da –I know. There are many of us) I wish they left it at Jack dying with Vincent laying next to him (alive) in the field as the Ajira plane piloted by Frank (impossibly) took off from Hydra island carrying the last LOSTies.

Jack, prone on the ground hears the plane before he looks up to see it appearing to successfully leave the island. If you think about it he saved his family. Claire, his half-sister and his former fiancee and in his mind soul mate, Kate–both on that plane. Then Sawyer and other people Jack didn’t really care about/ know very well.

I count Richard as being a half-LOSTie because he was brought there not of his own will. He’s been every bit a captive of that Island but we’ll never know –in totality–how much because wtf? Richard did not make it to the end of The End? He escaped the Island with Sawyer, Claire, Kate, Frank & Miles.
Richard played a large role in LOST, ultimately. Nestor Carbonell’s solo episode that told his story was one of the highest- rated episodes of Season 6. People really liked it and it was all Richard, pretty much. Ben could be invited into the (for lack of better words) “waiting room” but not a thought to Richard!? Does not compute.
But Ritchard is just one beef I have with the whole “reunification of ex-LOSTies.” There was someone there that in no way belonged there unless you literally construe a dumb excuse. Shannon and Sayid??? Was Darlton watching their own show? ’cause in no way was Shannon Sayid’s soul mate. You can’t have made a life soul mate in 45 days or however long Shannon lasted through season one of LOST. Nadia was years of Sayid’s life. We the audience watched seasons of Sayid pining over Nadia’s photo. But we have to shoehorn Shannon in because Maggie Grace’s schedule opened up? Really?
I would have been fine without her.
Also :ahem Libby :ahem:.
What was she doing there other than for exactly and no other reason than Hurley?

Contrived. Didn’t work.
Screen caps. More later.

LOST – Episode 6×17 “The End” – On Island – An Insider’s Interpretation of ‘The End’ Darlton Talk To Diane Sawyer About The End of ‘The End’

THEBOOKOFLAW — May 24, 2010 — THE CONVERSATION: LOST PRODUCERS SPEAK to Diane Sawyer ON FINALE

Includes the Sawyer-Juliet moment of realization –Elizabeth Mitchell knocks it out of the park!

Keeping a light tone here but these guys promised that after the season finale of LOST aired that they would not ever speak about it again!

So technically, they taped this before “The End” aired but I do NOT want to hear another word from either of them– forever. It’s the self-appointed “we’re rock stars” flogging of all they do and the “we know something you don’t know” six-years-going convo that has been driving me nuts. There something to be said (no pun) for letting the work speak for itself.

After the jump: a LOST writer anonymously comments on LOST finale, “The End.”

One thing that makes me sort of hesitate to state with certainty that this is 100% genuine is that he misspelled a number of character’s names and other words (I made some corrections.) That just seems like a glaring gaffe for a guy that claims to have written for the show for six years. But network TV is dying so…anyway.

Despite this, the explanation sounds pretty good.

UPDATE LOST Finale Spoilers 5.22.10

“Anyway, I’ve read… the “Spoilers Times Talks “Live : Lost Event”, and there’s something that’s wrong/missing.

One part of the spoilers says “Hurley was involved in the final scene (we knew this already).”

That’s actually not true. Here’s what happened.

Darlton said they flew to Hawaii for the shooting of the final scene, which involved a lot of the characters. They then said to everybody involved that if they had any question, they’d be there to answer them. Damon added that one actor in particular – without naming him – said “Why start now ?”

AND THEN happened the really interesting stuff. Damon went on to add that this was actually the penultimate scene of the show, not the final one. Carlton stopped him, made noise to cover Damon’s words and basically said “What the hell ?”

This happened early on, I think it was even before the “There’s gonna be a big Star Wars reference in the first 7 minutes of the finale”, and definitely before the Walt bomb (well, since I follow your site, we’ve known about Malcolm appearing on the finale for a while, so not a bomb for me…)

So yeah, I get that people are confused about what the final scene is, because they talked about that scene with all the characters several times as the final one. But I assure you Damon let it slip that this scene they flew specifically to watch is not the final scene.

I don’t know what the final scene is, and I’m glad I don’t. Maybe it’s the island sinking. Maybe it’s that Jack&Desmond scene that appears in the Rumour section and which was “revealed” by a guard. I don’t know.”

Lost Live…was awesome! Overall there were about 20 actors there, plus Damon and Carlton, the writers and Jack Bender. The orchestra set was great and it was a perfect exclamation point on the series to hear the music performed live.

  • This section happened in “What They Died For” S6 E16.
  • Here’s what was spoiled:
  • Sideways Jack wakes up with the familiar blood stain on his neck and goes to eat breakfast with David.
  • David makes sure Jack is going to his concert that night and Jack says he would be and inquires if David’s mom will be there.
  • Jack gets contacted by Oceanic telling him his father’s casket was located, but the audience finds out  it’s actually Desmond on the phone.

<whoosh>

On the island

  • Jack patches up Kate’s shoulder and Kate laments that Locke killed Jin and Sun and that they have a daughter, one that Jin will now never see.
  • Kate says that they have to kill Locke and Jack agrees.
  • Jack says that if Locke wants Desmond, they need to get to him first and they (Kate, Jack, Hurley and Sawyer) head off to the well to retrieve him.

In Sideways World

  • Desmond watches from his car as Locke gets out of his van; his first day back at school after being run down. In a similar situation Des starts the car and seems poised to run Locke down again until Ben interrupts him and stops him. Des gets out and says he wasn’t trying to hurt Locke, but help him. Ben asks how and Des starts punching him; at which time Ben begins to have flashes of his “other” life.
  • On the mend in the nurses office, Locke arrives to check on Ben and Ben tells him the story as Locke calls the police.
  • Ben stops him and says that he believes Desmond when he said he was trying to help.
  • Alex meets up with Ben outside the school and invites to drive him home with her mom. At first Ben declines, but then a “cleaned up and non crazy” Rousseau insists. Back at their house after dinner, Ben asks Danielle what happened to Alex’s father. She says he died when she was 2 and muses that is why Alex has taken to Ben so much; he has an interest in her and believes in her and is the father she never had. Ben gets misty from hearing this.
  • Desmond turns himself  in for running over Locke. Then breaks Sayid and
Kate out of jail  with the help of Ana Lucia and Hurley.

Back on The Island

  • Richard, Miles and Ben are heading to Ben’s house to get his stash of C4 to blow up the plane.
  • Zoe and Widmore arrive while they are there. Widmore explains that after the freighter was blown up, Jacob visited him and explained what he must do.
  • Widmore orders Zoe to go sink their boat and she leaves.
  • Widmore explains that he brought Desmond to the island because of his immunity to electromagnetism.
  • Zoe calls up on the walkie explaining that Locke has arrived on the island. Widmore orders her to return and when she is on her way Widmore says they all need to hide in Ben’s closet.
  • Miles leaves on his own while Ben and Richard decide to confront Locke thinking they can either buy time or get him to leave.
  • With Widmore and Zoe in the closet they walk outside.
  • The black smoke slams into Richard and tosses him into the woods.
  • Smokey & Richard

  • Ben seemingly resigned and calm, sits on the front step of a Dharma house and Locke approaches.
  • Locke tells Ben and that there are some people he’d like Ben to kill and in exchange, he can have control of the island after Locke leaves.
  • Ben accepts and tells him that Widmore and Zoe are in his closet
  • Locke says he won’t kill Widmore’s daughter Penny when he leaves the island.
  • At first Widmore doesn’t seem to trust him, but relents and tells him of Desmond.
  • When Locke asks why Desmond, Widmore doesn’t want Ben to hear. Ben turns around and he whispers inaudibly into Locke’s ear.
  • Suddenly Widmore is shot numerous times by Ben, with Ben explaining that he (Widmore) “Shouldn’t have the opportunity to save his daughter” and then asks Locke if there are others he wants him to kill.
  • In the woods, young Jacob appears to Hurley and demands his (little sack of ) ashes that Ilana had gathered before she blew up from Hurley.
  • He takes them and runs away and Hurley gives chase, and comes upon adult Jacob in the woods around a campfire. Hurley brings Jack, Kate and Sawyer to Jacob, who they can now see and communicate with.
    • Jacob explains that he made a mistake when his actions made his brother into the smoke monster and he knew that eventually he’d find a way to kill him; so the candidates have been his preparations for his eventual demise.
    • Protecting the island is what the others “have all died for.” He says that he must have a successor before the fire burns out; once it does, he is gone for good and “it would be very bad” if there isn’t someone to take his place.
    • Sawyer complains that his life was fine before Jacob brought them there, but Jacob interjects that they were all lost, lonely and broken, like he was.
    • Kate asks why she was crossed out and Jacob explains that it’s “just chalk on a wall, (he) crossed (her name) out because she became a mother and “the job is still open if she wants it”.
    • No one accepts at first, until Jack stands and says this is what he was meant to do and accepts the “job”.
    • Jacob explains that the light is the heart of the island and is what must be protected from extinguishing; which is what MIB wants to do.
    • Jack asks if they’re supposed to kill him (MIB) and Jacob says that he hopes they can. Jacob gets a cup from Jack, says a “prayer” to the water and gives it to Jack to drink; when he does, Jacob says “Now we are the same”.

    Sideways world

    • Locke goes to Jack and explains that maybe fate is what cause his accident and maybe Jack is supposed to fix his spine. Jack accepts (after the uttering of a few familiar phrases).
    • On the island, Locke and Ben reach the well to see that Desmond is not there. Ben asks what it was that Widmore said to him about Desmond. He says that Desmond was Jacob’s “fail safe” in case all of his candidates were killed; but that Desmond will be useful to Locke now because Desmond can do what Locke has never been able to do, “Destroy the island”.

    Update Live LOST 5/21/10

    - Just got back, not too many spoilers…but Carlton did let out that we will see Walt again before all is said and done.
    - they also referenced that one of the final scenes involves a lot of characters and that the very final scene has been known since season 1
    - One of the fans in the audience asked if Desmond’s line to Jack in the 2nd season when they first meet in the stadium and Desmond tells Jack “You have to lift it up” would have any relevance to the finale. Damon & Carlton said “you will not be disappointed.”
    - The bigger one, though, was confirmation that we will see Walt in the finale. Yes, Walt.
    - Eloise’s knowledge is relevant for the finale.
    - Walt will be back in some form.
    - Damon would not directly address why Smokey was pulling Locke down that hole in the S1 finale, so that could be relevant. Same with whether or not Jacob is actually good, and whether or not there’s anything worth protecting down in the Light Cave.
    - There will be a Star Wars reference in the first 7 minutes of the finale.
    - Hurley was involved in the final scene (we knew this already).
    - A clip was shown, pretty much an extended version of the Sawyer/Ben/Flocke one posted here. Sawyer tells Locke that he thinks Desmond is needed for destroying the Island, Locke says yes. Sawyer then takes Ben’s gun, punches him, and walks away while saying that the group he’s a part of “aren’t candidates anymore”. Locke then remarks that the Island will be at the bottom of the ocean when he’s done with it, prompting Ben to question his loyalty (Ben was promised the Island in return for his help, and assumed that its destruction was figurative and not literal). Locke then invited him to join him on his boat as he watches the Island sink. He kneels down to the ground near the well and notices pawprints.
He realizes that a dog had been there.
    - Also, mirrors are very relevant.
    - When Ben asks why Flocke isn’t running to chase him down Flocke explains that he intends to use Desmond to destroy the Island. Naturally Ben isn’t too pleased.
    - The extended clip ends with Flocke examining the ground near the well and stating that a dog had been there.
    - Widmore was lying when he said Jacob visited him
