A short history of the LOST-based real-life romance and some great pics of  Dom and Evie is here.

Thanks to Lyly

Evangeline and Dom ARE back together

Actress Evangeline Lilly who stars as “Kate Austen” on ABC TV’s LOST, spent the end of the year with actor Dominic Monaghan, her boyfriend of 5 years (with the exception of a few months in which they were estranged). Evie says she and Dom chose to go to Switzerland to finally have “a White Christmas.”

Prior to starring on LOST through Season 3, Dominic was best known as “Pippen,” a hobbit in the film trilogy, “Lord Of The Rings.”

The couple has been notoriously difficult to pin down as together–or not because they are both very publicity shy. It was rumoured that just months after their break-up over a year ago that they were headed toward being recoupled.

I just love the two of them together. There are some YouTube interview videos taken by a German interviewer (plus a French radio  commercial in which Evangeline speaks French Canadian. Totally cute) from a while ago and they honestly seemed like soulmates. I’m always glad to see true love prevail, aren’t you?

During the LOST break, Evangeline will be promoting her first big screen film, the drama, “Afterwards,” in which she co-stars with John Malkovitch. “Afterwards” is slated to premiere January, 2009.

Of course, Evangeline’s other Very Big Thing is the beginning of Season Five of  LOST.

Previously vocal in her opinion her character Kate, Lilly cautions that viewers should try to be patient with the first part of Season Five as it is “very complicated” <oh noes!>. She describes it as a puzzle in which fans will learn about characters bit by bit. Finally, Evangeline stated that in the second part of Season 5 there will be payoff for viewer’s patience. (Where have I heard this before?!)

I still can’t believe that Jeremy Davies is a featured player! And I love that Jeff Fahey is guesting as our intrepid helicopter pilot. Remember: Not all the pilots have to die! We’ve got Desmond and Penny. Looks to be a great episode. :)

I will watch this show until the end…unless they kill him off…which would be a very. bad. idea. cos’ let’s face it–they need him!

Thanks to The Watcher (Maureen Ryan)

This sneak peek shows Jack and Ben in a motel room. Jack is shaving off his huge beard and Ben is choosing some dress clothes. They discuss finding the Oceanic 6, who they’ll pursue first. The discussion turns to the now-dead Locke and Jack queries Ben about when Ben last saw him. Ben sort of tells a truth, I’m not sure if it’s actually the truth about last seeing Locke in the Orchid station.

Ben wants to know why Jack is such a strong “believer” now and Jack answers that it’s because of what  Locke said about the ones left behind–he specifically mentions Sawyer and Juliet and recounts how Locke told him (Jack) that everyone on the Island would die if the Oceanic 6 did not return to the Island.

Unless there were some hidden clues in this I didn’t see much or learn much (anything?) that has not been presented already.  Still, it’s very enjoyable to see scenes form the upcoming season even if they are not ( yet) mind-blowing.

While I was checking around for LOST updates I found at what is quickly becoming my favourite LOST spoiler site, Spoiler TV some new studio photos stills of the characters, a few of which I’ll show here. The Watcher (Maureen Ryan) is also responsible for me knowing where to look for these. It is much appreciated!

Said now to no longer being a full-time cast member. Too bad. I think they underutilized her, which has been one of the most frustrating aspects of LOST–pulling in good actors and letting them…do nothing much. Juliet’s role seemed to be going that way last season. Hopefully, she’ll “pop” a bit more in Season 5.

Lots more LOST posts

This scene was nicely done and these two worked well together in pretty much all their scenes, I think.

Would love it if before the series ends that Dom comes back one more time–maybe as the last “dead person” Hurley will ever see before he’s free of well, seeing ghosts. That would totally work for me if they could write it. It would have to be an extreme situation, on the island of course, and Dom somehow again shows what a great heart Charlie had. I miss the character though I still really enjoy Jorge Garcia’s “Hurley.”

When I’ve gotten fed up with this show he and a handful of other actors on the show keep me watching. Them and the scenery. :D

I’m officially moving what I put together for LOST, the ABC television show back here from the original blog of mine,  Cyn City.  I’m amping up coverage on a couple of shows that I favour as I wind down with a few others. You can always click the link to my sister blog, Cyn City to get a lot more previous LOST coverage or click and bookmark :) here: Cyn City. Then you can use the “Ligit” box in the left column at Cyn City at to search by typing in “LOST” or search on this site as well here for LOST posts. :) Enjoy!

It should be fun season.

As I was mentioning to my spouse last night as we traipsed about in our snow and ice-covered neighborhood walking our pooch, the LOST media machine is releasing something new almost every day. Some of it is official–the majority of it comes from visitors and residents of Hawaii where filming on LOST continues post-Thanksgiving, as well as “insiders” whose identities remain cloaked in order to protect the “guilty.”

Today’s treat includes a link to one of the best sources for LOST images–including high-resolution– on  the Internet. They’ve given their site a great face lift and with the  run-up to LOST’s Jan 21 premiere have got the goods that I know you’ll want get a good look at: LOST-Media.com.

From the intrepid reporters at http://www.hawaiiweblog.com/2008/12/02/lost-in-dharma comes a first-hand account of some lucky Canadian visitors who happened by a LOST set and got very, very lucky as well as picked up some tidbits of info about the current filming of LOST in Hawaii, this time a scene between Kate and Hurley, a very clean-looking VW van and our LOSTIES wearing Dharma jumpsuits (!?)Van

“SPOILER ALERT! The “LOST” filming tip line had been silent for some time, and in years past the Thanksgiving holiday marked the start of a six-week hiatus for local production. I was beginning to think we’d seen the last of the location shoots of 2008.  But visiting fan Grant from Edmonton and his wife were able to catch them hard at work yesterday at Camp Erdman — otherwise known as Othersville — on the North Shore.

Lucky fan on set 2009 Season 5

Polite and discreet Canadians that they were, they just quietly watched from afar as the cast and crew broke for lunch. But their good nature must’ve been evident, as Evangeline Lilly — a Canadian herself — spotted them and walked over to talk to them.

They weren’t able to get close to the set, but the close encounter with the cast definitely made their day. Grant did, however, take note of a few curious facts during his visit:

  • There were six main characters present. In addition to Kate, they saw Jack (Matthew Fox), Hurley (Jorge Garcia), Sayid (Naveen Andrews), Sawyer (Josh Holloway) and Jin (Daniel Dae Kim). Those last two names are particularly interesting to see.
  • Sayid appeared to be wearing civilian clothes. Kate appeared to be wearing a dark blue jumpsuit. The rest — Jack, Hurley, Sawyer and Jin — were all wearing what appeared to be the DHARMA Intiative’s familiar tan jumpsuits.
  • There were also more than a dozen other actors, including a few children in DHARMA tan jumpsuits, skirts and shorts.
  • At least four new looking DHARMA Volkswagen vans, one Jeep, and a few blue bicycles scattered among the cabins.
  • The left edge of a banner that began with the word “NEW.”

Big news day here in Illinois.

    Senator Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey

    Senator Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey

Our corrupt governor who I’m secretly giggling about thinking of the many ways his name–Blagojevich (Bla goi a vitch) is being mangled by the national news media, was arrested at 6 a.m. at his home for conspiring to sell Barack Obama’s Senate seat!

If it were not so outrageous it would be funny. Oh hell. It is funny. But also troubling when the FBI calls Illinois the “most corrupt state” in the union.

How soon they forget. Hello? Where does the president-elect hale from? I’ll give you a hint. He is currently resting his weary head 35 miles from here in his home in Hyde Park. So chill out FBI guys. One of our “corrupt” politicians will very soon be your boss.

Don’t damn the whole state. Illinois goes from the sophistication, diversity, beauty and yes, the corruption of Chicago to mile after seemingly endless mile of corn growing on downstate farms. The state is not corrupt.

And no fair pretending we did not know that most Illinois governors are corrupt. I don’t know why. Supposedly the “machine” politics of Chicago spills over to Springfield (the state capital).

In other local news, Oprah Winfrey admitted to being “fat.”* I guess even she could not bear to view the extreme Photoshop portraits of Miss Thing staring out from the cover of “O” magazine each month looking lithe and lovely instead of fat and sassy.

Of course she’s going to start a new regimen which she’ll announce on her television show.
    Ratings whore, much?
Sorry Oprah fans. You have to have lived with her for 20 years to truly get Oprah or maybe you don’t–she’s been shoved down your throats too, so maybe you’ve see her mask slip once or twice.

However with all the problems of the world Oprah’s “true confession” that it wasn’t until she went to pick her Inaugural ball gown that she admitted to herself that she is big strikes me as just a teeny bit shallow, no?
You may be wondering why I seem to have a hate on for the big O but I don’t, not really. I just wish she’d shut up about her weight. The obsession is a big part of the issue. Issuing press releases about it is a tiny obsessed, isn’t it?

That’s about it for me. I’m in deep denial that the holidays are more or less here and I’m less prepared than I wish I were. We’ve had tonnes of snow and ice and my feet are cold right now because I’m only wearing socks and the true winter chill has set in. It will remain constant until about April.
I’m not at all a fan of winter. I would be like the bears and sleep right through it if I could.

*fat is not a bad word. It is a descriptive word, though not a great one. I am quoting Oprah.

Full Episode Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles, Episode 12: ” Alpine Fields”

Episode 2.12- Alpine Fields - airing 12.08.08 on FOX

Derek (Brian Austin Green) helps a family in need in the “Alpine Fields” episode of TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES airing Monday, Dec. 8 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

The Fields’ family name was written in blood on the basement wall and so Sarah without explaining much at all tells the family to “come with me if you want to live,” (that’s the gist). The family is comprised of a mother, father, and teen daughter, none of whom wish to be helpful and clue Sarah in to why the Terminators would want them exterminated. Sarah assumes first that it must be a father as the mother stays home. She’s wrong it turns out, the mother is carrying a baby in the tradition of Sarah herself–a child that will save many lives in the future. We get this through Derek’s flash forwards/backs, mostly 6 months later when he gets a call from the family who’ve been in hiding, saying the Terminators have found them. It turns out the wife has cheated and the baby she’s carrying in that of the man she telephones, disclosing their location and getting her husband and probably her lover killed. Not only that the mother is a nasty b-word. However, her daughter is quite sweet and 6 months into running from the future is quite self-sufficient and tough. Derek tends to the mother who has been shot through the shoulder while daughter Lauren helps with the birth of her sister. Derek continues to flash forward/back and we see when he first met Jesse on a mission to save a survivor of the plague–the child about to be born. In the future her antibodies save both Derek and Jesse and many others. Her older sister survives as well. The mother dies shortly after giving birth and after Derek invites them to stay with the Connors. He then walks away to take a cellphone call and is surprised when he returns to see that the teenage girl and newborn have disappeared.

This episode had no less than three schedule changes and is most definitely a stand alone eppy. There were some nice performances by Samantha Krutzfeldt as Lauren and Brian Austin Green as Derek Reese. Other than that is was not at all crucial to the series.

Cast: Lena Headey as Sarah Connor; Thomas Dekker as John Connor; Summer Glau as Cameron; Brian Austin Green as Derek Reese; Richard T. Jones as James Ellison; Garret Dillahunt as Cromartie; Shirley Manson as Catherine Weaver; Leven Rambin as Riley, Stephanie Jacobsen as Jesse, Rebecca Creskoff as Anne, Oren Dayan as Mike, Haley Hudson as Sydney, Samantha Krutzfeldt as Lauren, Peter Mensah as General Perry, Johnny Sneed as Roger

Reward -" Loved Ones" - Jamie and Matty

This was the “loved ones” episode. We had all the remaining players reunite with their loved ones after Jeff tried to fob an expensive video-streaming phone off on them (and us).

We saw Matty propose marriage to “Jamie.”‘

Sugar and her sis sprinkled their dad’s ashes into the river. Sugar spilled a bit of her dad on her legs but she rinsed him off in the river while remembering him fondly.

He also reveals that (his) “nickname on location is “Jeff loves love.” That’s so sweet.

“TRIBAL COUNCIL At Tribal Council, paranoia sets in for Corinne and Bob as they admit to being on the outs. When asked if she is paranoid, Sugar smugly claims that her only hope is that her alliance does not get duped by believing lies. Ken reveals that the vote tonight is very important, and that several people are going to be shocked, asking who voted for whom. In the end, Corinne does not play the fake idol as Ken expected, sending Corinne home instead of Matty. With four out of the seven votes cast against her, Corinne Kaplan, the 29 year-old sales rep from Los Angeles, California, became the twelfth person voted out and fourth member of the jury of SURVIVOR: GABON: EARTH’S LAST EDEN.”

    AN EVIL GENIUS ( Source)
“… Sugar and Bob sneak into the jungle for a chat. Sugar pleads with Bob to send Randy home next…  Bob confesses that he does not have the hidden immunity idol, and reveals that he… looked for it …but was unsuccessful.  Sugar is in possession of the hidden immunity idol, but has kept her discovery a secret from Corinne, Randy and Bob. As Bob’s story progresses, he reveals to Sugar that he has constructed a fake idol and shows it to Sugar. Sugar comments on Bob’s devious plans: “I guess Bob might have some kind of strategy in showing me the fake immunity idol. Maybe he’s an evil genius, I don’t know.”

After returning to camp, Matty thanks Sugar for the cookie. Randy snaps at Matty… expresses his resentment for Sugar: “I left the auction broke, full, half-drunk and pissed off. So I am going to burn this house down in the next day or so.”

Sugar laughs at Randy’s childlike fit over the cookie…the only reason I took his damn cookie is because he didn’t want to give me a cookie…because Sugar’s evil.”

    Tribal Council-

At Tribal Council, Randy bickers about the cookie incident … Susie insults Randy… and says that she feels sorry for him…the rest of the tribe point out that Randy has been rude to Susie and the others… Before the votes are read, Randy plays Bob’s fake immunity idol, thinking that he has just blindsided Susie. Jeff reveals that it is not a true immunity idol, and Randy is humiliated as the rest of the tribe laugh at him. In the end, Randy was voted out with five of the eight votes cast against him. Randy Bailey, the 49 year-old wedding videographer from Eagle Rock, Missouri, became the 11th person voted out and third member of the Survivor: Gabon jury.

My guess is that it’s a lot of “extra” video that  is shown on the CBS website because a number of topics in the preview blurb are done at the CBS site.

It’s been my experience, with a couple of notable exceptions, that most of the Survivors, once they are out of the game are exceedingly ordinary–that is they are just average people though some of them granted, have accomplished much in life. But I don’t know them and I don’t really care about them other than within the context of Survivor.

Honestly, the only contestant out of  the previous 16 Seasons of Survivor that I think about is that horrible Elizabeth from Survivor 2 who is now–for what reason I cannot fathom on Barbara Walter’s show, The View.

Angelina Jolie is not only promoting her film, “The Changeling,” the Clint Eastwood-directed film which she made over the period she got pregnant with the twins but she’s plunged back into charity travel and other good works.

Her next film may be Jolie’s last for a while though, as the actress said last week that she plans to “fade away” from acting in the years ahead.

In the meantime, Angelina has confirmed reports that she will replace Tom Cruise in the upcoming espionage thriller Edwin A. Salt.

The Mr. and Mrs. Smith star first took a shine to the role when Cruise dropped out. Once Jolie expressed interest, the film’s writers reworked the lead character — a CIA officer falsely accused of spying for the Russians — to be female. The film’s name will also be changed with the switcheroo.

“I’m working on a film called Salt,” Jolie said when asked about her next project during an interview on BBC Radio. “It’s with [Bone Collector director] Phillip Noyce. And that’s it.”

Yesterday Angelina Jolie, 33, attended a press conference in London to speak about her Clint Eastwood-directed film, Changeling. In describing the Chritines Collins character she portryas in the film she brought up her own mother who died  prior to the filming.

My mom….there was something about her, Jolie said. Her name was Marcheline and everybody called her Marshmallow as a joke, because she was just the softest, most gentle woman in the world.

Bertrand passed away in January 2007, at age 56, after a battle with cancer. Jolie’s father is Midnight Cowboy actor Jon Voight, 70.

As the interview went on, Jolie began to choke up.

“Um…F*ck,” the Oscar winner cursed, attempting to hold back her tears. “[My mother] is very much… She is very much Christine Collins. She was really, really sweet, and, um, she would never get angry. She couldn’t swear to save her life. But when it came to her kids she was just really, really fierce.”

Jolie added that she related to her mother while playing Collins, and that her own mother “had that elegance and strength through just knowing what was right.”Jolie named one of her twins born in July—Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt—partially after her mother. Source
