It’s seems that Lucretia has been on an interesting trajectory in the six weeks or so since the slaughter of the slave revolt in her home,’the House of Batiatus.’ It’s pretty apparent that she received medical attention for the surprise ‘C-section’ that Crixus performed by shoving his blade into her pregnant abdomen–but who assisted her? For a long time, I’d assumed that the house healer survived and found her and treated her, but after rewatching Spartacus: Blood and Sand‘s finale, I’m wondering if it was not Ashur who negotiated her survival. In the carnage were the elite of Capua decked out in their best finery and jewels. Certainly, Ashur would have helped himself to some of the riches and afterward, the way to take leave of the Bat-House was to walk right by (almost over) the sprawled-on-the-floor/in the pool Lucretia. Ashur is all about securing his place and by helping her he could only help himself. It makes sense logically; the House of Batiatus was finally being good to him; he had no axe to grind with a dying Lucretia. So that’s my guess. Has the answer been disclosed elsewhere? What do you think? How did Lucretia survive what was meant to be a fatal blow by the sword of Crixus? Who did such a nice, neat job of sewing Lucretia up?
Now that she’s been discovered, Lucretia, who Lucy Lawless regards as having ‘lost her marbles,’ seems to be on the brink of another big change in her life. Always sharp and conniving, Lucretia, who seems totally ‘out of it’, has already been privy to talk about her usefulness. Now she needs to take the ball and run with it. Where there is power or a way to snatch back some of the power ripped from her, you can bet that Lucetia will be right on it. No doubt fun times are ahead for Lucy Lawless/Lucretia fans!
