Kristen Feb 1, 2011 ‘V’ Spoiler
Q: Anything on V?
A: We just caught up with Morena Baccarin and she told us, “I think from episode to episode you don’t get a break and we finally get to reveal all the stuff you’ve been waiting for us to reveal. Why are the V’s here? What do we need? Why haven’t we killed the humans yet and just taken over the planet? We obviously need the humans for something. You get to find all that out when you watch.”

“V: The New Series” needs to strike a balance. Season 1 moved at a snail’s pace (including outside causes like getting sued by a former writer and the 2010 winter Olympics broadcasts), plodding along, boring people silly and wasting the not inconsiderable talents of most of it’s cast.
Both “V,” as it was then called, and ‘FlashForward’ were new 2009 ABC-TV sci-fi series that were expressly designed to take the place of LOST– despite their protestations that they were nothing like LOST. Well, they were right on that call. They were nothing like LOST–but probably not in the way they were aiming for.
I paid pretty close attention to the ratings of both shows in their freshman season and despite both being ‘on the bubble’ with similar ratings only “V“ now “V: The New Series,” was renewed. But ‘V’ could not exhale yet as it came back to season 2 after a too-long hiatus to an initially tepid response which made it seemingly a sure bet to be canceled at the end of it’s 10-episode sophomore season. ABC’s announcement of the cancellation of the back nine episodes (or however many) did not instill confidence, either.
But hang on. “V’ is not a sure bet to be cancelled as it is not doing too badly in the ratings and more importantly, it seems to be finding it’s stride.
“V” is not groundbreaking television. The special effects are supercheesy and for me anyway, if I never hear ‘Erica Evans‘ (Elizabeth Mitchell) call out ‘ Waaaalt!” again, I mean ‘Tyler!!!’, I will die a happy woman. It’s not just all the name-calling. It’s the name itself when repeated constantly. Then shortened to just ‘Ty!?!’ Aggravating. Kill the kid, who himself is written as a whiny little bugger and give the sunny Mitchell a darker slant which could be very appealing./steps off soapbox
So. OK. Morena Baccarin (lizard queen, Anna) is still spouting the party line (see above Kristen ‘spoiler’) which is uttered almost as much as ‘Tyler!!!”: ‘We finally get to reveal all the stuff you’ve been waiting for us to reveal’ ( in re: the remaining Season 2 episodes). That was the most complained-about issue people had with the show. Not enough action. This season it’s all action, all the time.
Hm. Almost sounds as if they thought that they were for sure dead in the water and were going to go out with a bang.
