…is equal to the love you take

FlashForward’s latest offering, S01E05 ‘Give Me Some Truth’ (October 22, 2009) was OK. Much of it took place in the Senate hearing chambers (?) in D.C. where our guys got interrogated essentially about their flash forwards and their motivations for wanting more money to run their Mosaic investigation.
Wedeck in particular, exhibited barrels of angst as he’d previously left Washington under murky circumstances which involved the now president of the U.S.  Part of the fallout involved a high-profile female senator who seems a whole lot like current Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. The senator had a big hate on for Wedeck, blaming him for thwarting her ascension to the presidency.

Regardless, Wedeck had a friend or frenemy –not sure which, yet– in the the president who made a deal ensuring that the beleaguered Mosaic team continued on their quest. As the team minus Janis, was assembled to leave in their limo in a parking garage they were attacked by guys with machine guns and a rocket launcher. Somehow they came out of their vehicle unscathed and firing back. Meanwhile, back at home Janis was carting some groceries in her arms, heading toward her apartment when a guy attacked her. She used her best Tae Kwon Do moves on him, taking him down efficiently.  However, a second guy emerged from the shadows,shooting her in the stomach. Janis returned fire shooting him in the back and he went down–and so did she. The last frame was of a gravely injured, though conscious Janis prone on the dark street, lying in a ever-growing pool of her own blood.

These two scenes took maybe 5 minutes to play out and they were top-notch–but other 38 minutes of the show did not excite me. See the videos (below) for more scenes from the October 22 episode including strangely non-titillating scenes of Janis and her one night stand lesbian lover.
