Wow! The trailer gives me chills. I’ve just viewed a number of them, some “unofficial” as “Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince” was originally to have been released last year. It seems they had much promo material at the ready and then Warner Bros. decided to hold it back. But it’s due for release here in the United States on July 17, 2009. Yay!
After viewing the last Harry Potter Film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, I decided because the film was so entertaining that I’d go back and read through the entire book series. Though there was/is merit to all of them the one I most enjoyed in part because I’ve loved the actor who played him in the films, was the Half-Blood Prince. I imagined him while reading and it enriched the story for me–not that the story wasn’t already pretty darn good. So I’m really quite jazzed about the film adaption of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Maybe I enjoy the simple things but it’s been a treat watching not only the primary characters, Daniel Radcliffe as Harry, Emma Watson as Hermione Granger and Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley grow up, but the consistent use of the secondary characters as well has proven quite fun. Despite the fantasy world in which the characters live it grounds the story for me.
Half Blood Prince took a number of very dark turns and though populated with teenagers it is not a kid’s story at all. The elements are quite serious though the easy camaraderie of the starring trio as well as the other cast members, some of whom have been in now 6 of the HP films, should take the edge off a bit after the really scary scenes.
