Today was Canadian Thanksgiving. We went to Goebbert’s Pumpkin Farm, a tradition of ours for close to 15 years. It’s much the same each year. Run by the Goebbert family, it’s farmland full of pumpkins, gourds, cornstalks and Indian corn and if you must, on the second floor of the barn, sort-of Halloween stuff  (we usually skip it). (Click Goebbert’s link above for directions to farm.)

At Goebbert’s there are preserves and fresh apples and apple treats like apple butter, apple “slices” (pie), and hot caramel with nuts over a whole, split apple and hot and cold cider and though I don’t ever get it because it’s messy, corn on the cob. And hayrides and a corn maze and an animal farm and zoo. It’s nicely landscaped, very family friendly and it has a down home feel, which here in the sometimes stale suburbs is a nice change of pace.  Oh yeah, it has a haunted house for ages 5 and up. My ears are still ringing because I got caught in a clutch of little girls and they all screamed twice when the puffed air came up from the floor.
Good times, however and it was top-down weather both ways! My pictures
