I got the title of this post by following one of many helpful “secrets” that are shared at truedotcom. I was skeptical until I clicked the first link about how write personal ad headlines to (tell) what a delicious catch you are. I know how “delicious” I am <grin> but to convey that to the world without sounding totally egotistical? Turns out it is easy and fun to do and doesn’t seem at all the product of an over-inflated ego or an imagination run wild.
The end results, of which my headline is just one, are informative, fun and most important, quickly tell someone in thumbnail form about an aspect of me that I’ve deemed worth mentioning! Here’s another: Goofy, casual dog-lover. It’s a completely different headline with a different vibe but it does describe me. These little phrases can be just the beginning of putting together an expanded description.
If you are having trouble getting started you can get assistance from the truedotcom people and they’ll give you feedback to get you on your way. This is a unique quality I think of a meeting and matching service and I not only think it can work well I think it’s genius! It’s also genius that at truedotcom you search for free.
Though getting a catchy and truthful description of yourself out there is important, truedotcom seems very comprehensive in looking at the dating picture in it’s entirety. So a click away from catchy phrasing is “Six Must Haves For First Date Safety.”
This article begins by distinguishing between first date jitters and excitement and personal safety.
With that in mind this free dating service goes through a check list of six safety items you should have on that first date. What are they? Just for fun I wondered if I could guess without looking at their list. This is how far I got: cellphone. That one is easy and obvious.
Second, always carry extra cash just in case you need a taxi home–something has gone sour and you are concerned about your date knowing what your plates and type of car you have are. My dad use to call this “pocket money” and he always asked, making sure I had some before going out on a date. Smart man, my dad.
Everyone knows a first date can be nerve-wracking . Instead of soothing yourself with a drink, carry a pack of gum and pop a piece to take the focus off your nerves and steady yourself. It’s likely you’ll drink less with gum in your mouth, too.
If you drive to an unfamiliar place, make sure you bring a map of that area and check to be sure you have your road-side assistance card with you. It’s often a part of your insurance policy which if you are like me, you keep in your glove box.
Finally, if you traveling at night, bring a flashlight.
I love these ideas! I guessed most of them in that I either adapt my behavior so it closely paralleled the suggestions or I already have the item it suggested–except the gum! I have gum in my purse–always but I’d never before thought of it as a way to moderate one’s drinking. That’s a very creative and helpful idea and if I had to sum up the truedotcom in two words it would be creative and helpful. Check it out. You’ve got nothing to lose as sign up is totally free!
