EDIT: Part one of part 3 is up!

Are you wondering what that gibberish voice on the phone said to Kate when it’s played in reverse?“The island needs you. You [...]

I have no self control. I’m heading downstairs to watch Battlestar Galactica instead of going to bed. I hated that it was off for two weeks and I’m really hating that it’s the last season and I’m depressed because work is way down and TypePad which I’ve always loved is FUBAR and unlike their usual [...]

What to do with them?
From what I can gather many people are not venturing far as it is a party holiday that’s coming about as early as it comes–ever. Some folks don’t even celebrate unless you call gardening or DIY “celebrating.”
Spouse has to go to work 2 of the three days so bummer [...]

What’s your favorite midnight snack?

Written by Caprica. Comments Off Posted in: Uncategorized

A cup of Earl Grey tea and reduced sodium Wheat Thins. I try to make it just the tea which I take plain ‘cos I like the taste of the tea.
I don’t know if tea drinkers in other parts of the world do this but my Canadian parents started giving me tea [...]

All day today, I’ve had a nagging feeling that there was some “occasion” this month of May that I was forgetting. I did a mental check and Mother’s Day popped into my mind. I scratched that. I remembered that May 10 was the anniversary of my first marriage (it was also Mother’s Day that year) [...]

…and I proudly display that fact in bumper sticker form in the place where I spend the most time.
As my son has gone through the grammar school years, I’d see this sticker all around town all the time, mostly stuck to large SUV’s and pricey cars.
I have yet to see a car that a bumper [...]

The State Of Things In The Courtyard

Written by Caprica. Comments Off Posted in: photography, weather

I’m afraid things are not great across the way. A shady tree that filtered the sunlight for the courtyard’s southern exposure was removed after it died but nothing replaced it. Now the tulips are faring poorly. The too-cold weather is not helping either and the hostas are taking a beating. Compare [...]

Erik Reichenbach: Dumbest Survivor Evar!
It seems the boy who lives in the town next to Hell, Michigan will go down in Survivor history as the “Dumbest Player Ever” after working for Individual Immunity and then being conned by the women that him giving the Immunity necklace to Natalie would be “a show of good faith”(!) [...]

Post Secret postcard this week~ Special “purge your bad-Mom,”/ bad karma edition.
Warning: Post Secret can be angsty; this week it’s extra angsty.
There were a number of really interesting and provocative cards just in time for Mother’s Day-(every year–pub. on Sundays)!
In this postcard, I especially like the sentiment expressed as, “How much time does forgiveness [...]

Mother’s Day Musings Redux

Just checked my gmail–there are 200 emails I need to attend to. Probably 20 I can delete right away–the rest are real.
I’m really happy that I sent out the virtual Mother’s Day cards as some of the recipients were really touched. I tried to pick the themes that best suited each woman, then wrote a [...]

…was excellent. I got Godiva chocolates from eldest son, roses and a romantic card from spouse, and from younger son a very funny card and various candles of many scents. All of us went out for dinner together–a rare occurrence and then the best part–what I’m calling”dessert,” we saw Iron Man. We all dug the [...]

My Summer Vacation

My best summer vacation happens every summer when we spend time at our cottage on Maple Lake in Ontario. We have already booked time off from our responsibilities for this summer and in less than two weeks we’ll make out first trip of the summer to Maple Lake to open up the cottage.
Maple Lake [...]

Wow. I’m pretty disappointed that Parvati won the big prize.
This video is very cute. Shows lots of little snippets from the final ten–8 in jury and Amanda and Parvati on their last day in Micronesia.
Worse were the remarks made by Natalie to Amanda as part of Nat’s turn at questioning Amanda and Parvati during the [...]

My 20-year-old self. She needed to have a good talking to.

Cindy, Age 20, Maple Lake, Ontario
Seriously, I’m not desirous of going to back to do things differently but it would be interesting to compare where my line of thinking was going compared with today. In some ways “we” seem like completely [...]

Japanese Hosta (Photo)

This is the one is in the front yard. It’s a beautiful tree in front of an unsightly background of 1. parking lot w/cars and 2. red brick building, approximately of the same shade of red as the leaves on the tree.
Love the tree though. When we move away however, spouse is likely to leave [...]

IMO, this episode is by far one of the funniest yet. With all the sturm und drang of Kathy and Chet and even Jonathan, the black widow, plotting women-helpless man-boy drama continues to be very amusing. In fact, at the end of this episode someone actually made a more stupid move than either Ozzy or [...]

Why do you blog? (QotD)

Since I keep a number of blogs I have about as many reasons for blogging so to simplify, I’ll keep my answer to the most personal one.
The reason I blog is because I like to express myself. I’ve been doing a fairly good job of that even before I could write. I am intrigued [...]

What personality trait has gotten you in the most trouble?

I’m too blunt.
People ask for an opinion and then sometimes they aren’t happy with the answer. Sorry, you asked!  It’s OK to just tell me I’m wrong.
I’m very honest* I suppose, to a fault.
So I forget to “pretty up” the phrasing of something and tick people off.
Or [...]

“A MEDICAL EVACUATION AND A BLINDSIDE: TWO MORE SURVIVORS GO TO THE JURY”
The castaways are reunited with loved ones and an infection threatens to put James out of the game.

James’ infected finger gets him taken out of the game–but still doing jury-duty –with an IV drip(!)

Amanda is reacts to [...]
