Lonesome Day

   Posted by: Caprica    in family

For some reason I’ve got the lyrics to Lonesome Day floating around in my head.

Baby once I thought I knew
Everything I needed to know about you
Your sweet whisper, your tender touch
I didn’t really know that much
Jokes on me, its gonna be okay
If I can just get through this lonesome day
Lonesome day

I know the lyrics sound kind of dark but Springsteen has a way of writing these kind of lyrics and when he belts them out they are uplifting.

Guess I’m feeling the need for something hopeful.

I just spoke with my folks and though she sounded good, my mom wandered off somewhere in her mind. Strokes will do that. My dad seemed to want to shield me from it and he took the phone from her. In fairness to him, it wasn’t the best moment to call. I suppose he still thinks of me as a kid and not someone who as a clinical counselor has treated schizophrenics as well as had kids of my own–one of whom is 25(!).

P.S. If you came here looking for Springsteen’s lyrics to “Lonesome Day” you can find them as well as every lyric to every song he’s published at his official website, brucespringsteen.net.

Cheers,

C.

You can run but you cannot hide

   Posted by: Caprica    in Internet

Q:
As soon as the press learned the name of the prostitute associated with Eliot Spitzer, pictures from her MySpace and Facebook accounts were splashed across the web. Do you ever worry about how much personal information there is about you on the internet?
A: (Wow. The tech question person misspelled Internet. I fear for the English language.)computers

No, I don’t worry about how much personal information there is about me on the Internet. I’m not ashamed of anything I’ve put on the Internet, in words or photographs. I hesitate to bare my soul and I have no deep, dark secrets (OK, maybe one). I figure if I put it on the Internet, I’d best be prepared for it to show up somewhere, sometime. If I can’t do that then it doesn’t go on the Internet.

Kinda seems simple but then I’ve got a rather uncomplicated life. I’ve never been a prostitute or a politician for that matter, but the professions aren’t all that different, are they?
