Despite appearances to the contrary I am still here.

This is day six of  being truly sick. Right now, though usually I wouldn’t bore you with the details, I’ll list ‘em:

Both ears are clogged. I am hearing myself as if I’ve got  earplugs in–but I can’t take ‘em out! I have a deep, barking cough with ick, green stuff. I’m taking Robitussin DM Cough and it’s the only way I’ve been able to sleep. I had spouse pick me up a jar of Vick’s VapoRub, too.

I can’t use anything with a decongestant in it–which rules out all the multi-symptom products so the Vick’s is giving some relief. A few days ago I couldn’t smell it at all–even with my nose an inch from the jar. Now I can smell it faintly–and with it’s combo of menthol, eucalyptus, and camphor it’s very pungent under normal circumstances.

I’ve been really, really run down but today I accidentally slept 10-11 hours and am feeling not bad energy-wise. Unfortunately, because both ears are clogged my equilibrium is off  so when I stand up balance is a issue. I’m holding tightly to the stair rail when I got down stairs.

Lessee…My upper lip from the initial days of a stream-like runny nose has chapped and peeled and I got fed up with the dead skin and last night took it off–which upon reflection may not have been the brightest move I’ve ever made. Now it looks like I’m missing part of my upper lip. Gah.

I have periodic pain in my left ear and am hoping against hope that it is not infected.

Tylenol has been my very close friend as it is the only pain reliever that plays nicely with my heart medication. I am really glad to be past the constant throbbing headache that made me nauseous and kept me bedridden for the better part of two days but I feel kinda bad when family asks how I am and I can’t give them some good news.
